I'm still here

It’s been long.. It’s been long!

The blog sure needs some mowing. I could see not only grass has gone wild in this pasture but cripples too has conquered many parts of it.

So many things and events had taken place for the last 5 months or so, good, bad and the in between. But let’s leave the bad aside and just cherish the good ones because seriously, there're too many good ones that the bad one just seems unseen.
In the big family, we had weddings, engagements, Raya this year which was so much better than last year’s though I was forced to do office work during the break, welcoming new family members … among many more other happy events.
Yeah, I know... the one showing fist is mine....

At 3.45kg, Zairoul Naquib. My cousin's or more like little brother's son.

In my immediate family, of course Nada has the most to tell about which I just do not know where and what to start.

She really talks a lot now – Malay and English equally used. Kelantan dialect, she’s trying so hard to master. Sometimes I just can’t seem to believe what came out of her 5 year old mouth.

On  one Sunday at Ikea, she missed the boat in her queue to enter Smaland by just couple of kids in front her. I told her the next session would be at 7.30PM which really boiled her up that she had to wait for another 1 ½ hour.

In a single breath, she just needed to let the steam out, almost shouted at me :
“This all your fault. Not my fault. Why do you come here late? I am so upset with you and angry. You stay away from me. Don’t come near me!”

… o my.. I almost crawled on my knees hearing she said that.

One night, out of the blue she asked us :
“When Mommy and Daddy were children, you meet is it? Then, did Daddy ask you – will you marry me?”

... like, why would she thought about it?

We celebrated our 9th year wedding anniversary the night before 20.08.13 at home. Only us, where I bought a Baskin Robbins cake for the tiny celebration we had.

However to Nada, all cakes are for her. Hence, she wasn’t happy that the cake was not meant for her, till the extend she sobbed so badly. I didn’t want her sulking for too long and told her that the cake was indeed for her.

You see, she needed an event for herself to be having the cake.

She asked me : “Why do you buy cake for me ? My birthday is in January. Now not yet January”

Clever mom I am, I told her : “O… I bought you the cake because you did well in your spelling bee at school.”

She was delighted with the explanation.

The next night, that is the actual day of our Aniversary, we had steamboat at Johnny’s we called it “NADA’S SPELLING TEST EXCELLENCE CELEBRATION DINNER” instead of Anniversary Dinner. Talking about the extent parents would do to make their kid happy, huh?

.....................................................................................................................................................................

Of course, handmade dos that I wish not to miss the blog.

I also managed to make this cute baby smock romper for Baby Naquib…. And of course, a pair of cloth shoes to match. Owh.. I'm in love with that boy already.

Sit down and breathe...

How I wish the luxury of having a craft studio like this :

with nice big table, plenty of room for fabric cutting for any sort of projects.

or like this :

 cute and neat.

or like this :

pale green in color and an island table.

or like this :

colorful and chearful, full of stuffs.

images from Google

But what I have is :
just this tiny 4'6" x 4'6" space.

The trusted machine is an 80's inherited from Mami, named Lady Gaga. The console was previously my kitchen cupboard. Small-humble space it may seems, I however find peace here. I can't thank enough that my husband hung the light as a surprise gift for me while I was away in Britain.

And these pair of butterflies are from my daughter : "It's for your curtain, Mommy..." says her.

Alhamdulillah, Thank You ya Allah Rabbil Alamin.

School works

Every now and then, Nada’s school would return the ‘works’ which were done by the kids to each parent. The works could be handicrafts, art-works, drawings, worksheets and stuff. I didn’t realize how much Nada had brought home since she started ‘schooling’ in 2011 until one day I decided to organise the works.

Overwhelming!

I spread out the stuffs to categorize them and I got stuck! I didn’t know where to start. Dang… no plans – shoot me.

Should I categorize according to the classes that she was in? The Baby Buttercup class, then in 3 year old Daffodil class and 4 year old Hibiscus class. Somehow I can’t do that because I had dumped all the works in few boxes before, they all got mixed up and I just don’t remember how to sort out according to classes timelines. Crossed the idea.

So, I settled for categorizing the works in which I think would be easy and appropriately stored by my standard. (not any ISO!) The A4 size worksheets and drawings would go into files, drawings of drawing board sizes into ‘handmade’ folders. (Thank You Daddy). Artworks and crafts into A3 size boxes of the same kind.

After couple of hours, I finally managed to have my living hall floor cleared. Fuhh !!!!

Nicely categorized and kept. There are also artworks that I’d like to hang up on our walls soon once we move to our new-old pad. Yeah, I am proud of my daughter’s silly artwork like that.

I was happy with my progress in organizing Nada’s school work. I thought I was done for the day……. NOT until I found this box full of the same stuff, all still jumble up. Drawings, art-work.. misc.
O dear.. I was not at all done – Shoot me again. How does other people handle more than one kid ?

Just Stuffs

Child (in stern tone) : Daddy, put your T-shirt in the laundry bag!
Daddy : What if I don't?
Child : You go to Aunty Jeanne('s) office. * Aunty Jeanne is a pre-school principal *
Daddy : What would Daddy do in Aunty Jeanne's office?
Child : You have to drink Hot Soup!

How's 2012 so far? It's been a week.

We started the year with treating ourselves watching "We bought a Zoo" movie at TGV, KLCC during the Public Holiday. Today, we made an impromptu visit again to TGV, 1 Shamelin for MI : Ghost Protocol. What is it about Hollywood, ya? They could make even the simplest movie plot like "We bought a Zoo" so interesting. Full of humor, emotions and values at the same time. They could also make the 'nonsense' plot of Ghost Protocol so real and believable beyond doubts.

Tomorrow, Nada's pre-school will re-open. It's just so cliche to say again and again, but it is so true. Time flies. In 3 weeks time she'll be four. When we celebrated Harris's birthday last end December, she was not happy that it was not hers.
She said the cake was not nice. It should be in triangle with princess and Ben 10. I don't exactly get the idea of combining princess and Ben 10.. and a triangle cake?

Anyway, since Year 2007, Harris would thought I would forget his Birth day because yes, I did forget on that year. I was heavily pregnant and I had nothing else on my mind besides the then delivery and believe it or not... I was so drown in thinking of how would I leave my office works in peace. (My boss is lucky)

So for his 40th birthday last year, a surprise would be interesting eh. I booked a place for dinner to celebrate. He was supposed to drive to the unknown location under my direction. When I said drive to Jalan Ampang, he guessed : Papa Rich, Hadramawt..
He drove until Flamingo Hotel and I said : take up AKLEH. Earlier guesses ruled out.

Then took Jalan Ampang towards KLCC, he guessed : PELITA NASI KANDAR! beep! wrong.
Took Jalan Stonor, he guessed : PNB Darby Park. beep! wrong again.
Once we reached the Oval traffic light, he made another guess - The Royale Chulan!.. and he was right this time.
My husband : he has maps in his brain.

Hopefully, we would figure out a memorable birthday treat for Nada too. Earlier, I asked her "Nada sayang Mommy banyak ke? sayang Daddy banyak?" She hugged us both and said "Sayang banyak Mommy, Daddy.." diplomatic answer.
I do wonder who would she loves more.. "Daddy carries her all the time while Mommy pushes the stroller."

My 35th birthday - Part 1

I so must blog about my birthday this year, though more than a week had passed. It was definitely one of the best birthday celebrations I had. For that matter it was celebrated for 3 hari 3 malam berturut-turut macam anak raja kahwin. :)

This year 28th March falls on Sunday. The few days before Sunday, Harris had been reminding our girl…. “Nada, nanti birthday Mommy… Nada nyanyi to-yu okay…”
On Saturday the 27th , we had the first dinner outing at Manhattan Fish, just the three of us and a little Chocolate Mud Pie for dessert made Dew singing “to-yu, to-yu, to-yu” This marked my first day celebration.

The little Chocolate Mud Pie ice-cream cake.

Macam burung ciak!

See how 'cool' I was enjoying my dessert.

She decided that she had to make an important call to Tokyo in the middle of our dinner to check on Nikkei !!!

The day 28th March started early morning with my Subuh prayer praising to Allah s.w.t with all greatness that He has lend me thus far. A husband whom has so much patience, a daughter whom means everything to me, other family members whom always plays a part in my story. A career that I like…..though at times it does strangle my neck. The fact I am able to contribute to the family well being by having a career on my own, I am just so grateful.

How can I resist these two LOVE ?

After my prayer I went out of the room and took a peek to Dew’s room to find out she was in a deep sleep and looked so solemn. I gazed all around the living room of our tiny apartment with just a bulb lighted at room corridor. Everything is in it’s place and neat. The lime scent from KIWI floor cleaner could still be smell from my mopping works at night before. I slide to side the glass sliding door and drew the curtain. Cool wind gushing through blowing the soft curtain up. I stepped out to the balcony feeling and inhaling the fresh air. A streak of first light shone at a far horizon. It was indeed a beautiful dawn. Praise to Allah s.w.t, that I live for another day.

We had planned for a family day out to International Book Fair at PWTC. Nothing starts for us unless we have a good breakfast, off we went to KRB Ampang Water Front after getting readied. I had the weekend favorite – Mee Kari. What I like about the curry mee serves for breakfast there is it’s portion. Medium scale : the ration of mee – tauhu – chicken – kerang – vegetables are perfectly sized for my breakfast level and the curry is yummy. A nicely do breakfast will ensure my smile at least for half a day.

Even though the day was still early, we guessed crowd in PWTC was surely packed judging from the lines of busses being parked at roadsides. I thought we would need to spend hours to look for a car park space, but the luck was on our side when we got one so near to the shopping entrance instantly after entering The Mall Basement.

She went to Book Fair in style.

Harris and I picked up few books and dictionaries for ourselves and selected few for Dew’s bedtime reading at the book fair. Dew behaved relatively well considering it was a packed event with sea of human. She requested to be on her feet at areas with lesser crowd and wouldn’t mind to be tied to the push chair at areas where people move at the pace of a turtle crawl.

While we were touring the fair, my cousin Nslave called me. As soon as I picked up the call, high pitch voice almost like chipmunks sang me : "Happy Birthday to YOU! hAPPY bIRTHday to YOU!......" Awwwwww.... those were my two little cousin niece and nephew. That was so sweet and I was delighted.

It was a satisfactory event for me with books and books and books every where. The only part that I don’t really like was when being harassed by salespersons of those early child education programs. You name it… Grolier, Scholastic what evah!… Not that I do not believe in all these media for early child education, but I solely do not agree when people put it as if I have to depend on them to ensure my child turn out brilliant, to be like Mr Astronaut Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie or Mr Tony Fernandez for that matter. (Apsal la mek pilih dua nama tu….)

“Kak…. Akak kena guna program ni…. Orang semua dah pakai sekarang ni. Nanti anak akak ketinggalan kalau akak tak beli dan guna program yang kami buat ni……….” Cheh! Please put it some other way la..

A salesperson kept nagging and telling me how a child may master English by watching their CD’s when he spoke English tunggang-terbalik, no better than me. I was about to tell him – May be you should watch the CD and learn your pronunciation well. However, since it was my birthday… I decided to be a gracious lady and not some bacul bitch. (Thank you to the good breakfast, kalo mek lapar……. Keluar tanduk!)

We then made our way to Jalan TAR as I wanted to get some stuff for my tailoring projects. You see, I may look and sound rough but ribbons, lace, little satin flowers could melt my heart. I felt like sleeping in Bunga & Riben shop which is full with wonderful colors. If I couldn’t have a Baby Products shop, I want to own a shop that sells ribbons.. Heh! Heh!
After getting hold of what I wanted at Bunga & Riben, five design selection of cheapsket fabric at Nagoya, two sets of Noevelle bed sheets at Sogo and sepinggan penuh Nasi Beriani at Insaf…. It was already close to 4pm and we headed home just in-time for Zohor prayers yang dah nak habis waktu!

Dew was asleep once we were home, so Harris and I had a quiet time to conclude our part time job of a bungalow renovation before the big event at night. Could she was awake, she would want to join signing and folding the plans too. The fact that Harris and I were collaborating and co-operating with each other for the job really gives me the sense of satisfaction. I hope one day we’ll achieve of what we both always dream of.

The tickets. Check out the book... I still have my Matriculation books nicely kept.. more than 15 years, ok!

Cik Ani the Nanny came over to our house close to 7pm to look after Dew while Harris and I went out for our night date at Amy’s Suatu Masa concert. It has been SSSSOOOOOOO long since only Harris and I went out together to have some fun. The loving Harris treated me extra nice and I am extremely a lucky women.

I wouldn’t say Amy’s musical concert was the best concert I had watched……. but surely it was an entertaining one.
Somehow….. I do not know, it was either the concert or may be Amy himself, reminds me so much of my own brother…. Mohd Safari Nasir.
May be it was because of the story line which narrated Amy’s life line being an entertainer from the darkness in the early until now that some lights had shone.
May be my brother has some resemblance of Amy physically. Yes, my brother is totally a good looking man only if hadn’t lost much weight for the last 17 years.
By end of the concert, my thought was all to my brother. I hope and pray he will lead a good life at present and on. Now that my silence promise to myself to buy my mami a house is fulfilled, I made another promise to myself……… I want to support my brother in all my might for the success in whatever he’ll do.

Amy and me

Yours truly

How we celebrated our baby girl's 2nd birthday.

This is a much due post I would say, when my baby girl’s birthday had passed for almost a week. Since I’ve made that quiet promise to blog about it… I better do so, ain’t I?
Last Friday on the 29.01.10, Harris asked me if we should a buy a cake to celebrate Dew’s birthday. I thought that would be fine and we grabbed a tiny lychee cheese cake at our neighborhood cake shop after work that day.

We headed home upon fetching Dew from her Nanny’s. Like the usual, we had our time entertaining the cheeky chic and I dozed off on the sofa. (It was a loooong tiring week, ok. Give me break!)
I was only to wake up when Harris awaken me, saying – “It’s 15 minutes to 12, let’s blow the candles!”
Hah! It’s late at night and Dew’s asleep! Never mind, I then took my bath to freshen up while Harris prepared the cake.

At 12 midnight just as it strike 30.01.10, we awaken Dew and started singing the birthday song. Dew was puzzled… only if she could speak well, she could have said – What a pair of crazy fun parents I have. As her sleep being disturbed, she couldn’t hold but to protest to put her back to bed without even blowing the candles. Wheee he he. So the cake was saved from being absorbed into our gastronomy system.

It was a real special day, which the justification was - I COOKED FOR LUNCH. Cheeewah! Cincai-cincai je. Prior to that we still had our breakfast outside.
In the late afternoon, we made the Birthday Girl on cloud nine with Daddy purchasing her long waited red ‘ayckel (bicycle – in her lingo)

Macam yo-yo je dia kayuh!

The cake had yet to be cut. Harris suggested for us to go to one of our best cousins place – the Mentibangs, for cake cutting occasion. Surely it would be more fun to have many people around. I was slightly reluctant earlier on because the cake was a tiny one it could not be enough for everyone. But what the heck… I agreed with him.
Dew was all happy once we were about to reach Mentibang’s place for she knew she’d have other 2+1 kiddos to share the fun with.

So, here goes the smooth-kalut, finally smooth Dew’s birthday cake cutting occasion.

Ibu had to barge in with a point finger and be the life saver, eh ?
Every time we show Dew this video, her chest raises up and down showing her breathing accelerating rapidly and repeatedly saying – Kakak, Kakak, Adha – to yo! I guess she wanted to say “Kakak had interrupted into Nada’s “Happy Birthday to you”….
He he, I know they two will be best of friends.

We left Mentibang’s family over 11pm close to 12night being so sleepy. So late… thanks to Harris for wanting to have ‘tutorials’ from Nslave of his newly bought birthday present - the E72.

That was how we celebrated our baby girl’s birthday. No fancy party with party planner, nothing so glamorous but we slept very blissful that night.

It is a joyous event every time to celebrate birthdays, but this particular birthday of a particular special girl also brings a poignant feeling to me. She’s growing up too fast, one day she no longer needs Mommy’s eyebrows and eyelashes when she wants to sleep or to soothe her.

To my baby girl, Mommy has to admit that Mommy is not a very patient mom that at times anger is on you unlike Daddy whom is always a cool Dad. Even so, always remember - Mommy loves you just as much as Daddy if not more!

Little notes for you to know....,
You may not be the winner of a cute baby contest, but you are the cutest baby in this entire Milky Way to Mommy and have long won Mommy and Daddy’s heart.

You may not be the genius baby that can point out countries on World map and appears in Oprah Winfrey Show at 20mo, but all the little achievement you’ve succeed thus far made Mommy really proud of you.

You may not be the eloquent baby that fascinates people around with vast use of vocabulary, but your gibberish talk and laugh and sing and shout and cries never fail to fulfill Mommy’s day.

You may not be the whiz kid but you just know how to console and cheer Mommy up when ever Mommy is feeling down or even angry at you.

Happy Second Birthday, Che’ Embun.. muah.

Sleepy Baby Singing

P/s : My dear readers want to know what I get for my girl this year ?… I didn’t get her anything…. I made her two dresses.

I call this flowery dress Mario Sommerset - nama mek salleh

and this one Si Kembang Payung.... i like them both.

Shepherd's Pie out of me

I am one person that I think who is really bad in cooking though at times that I cook, people will say Hmmm – Not Bad, Sedap. Not only I think I am lousy in cooking, I also do not have much interest in it. Cooking is my last choice to do in the house chores categories or of a wifey responsibility, though watching cooking programs on tele is one of my liking. What is wrong with me?

Even if I am at my parents-in law’s house, I have never tried to look good by trying to perform some culinary skill because I just know myself. I think I am suck at it. And if they detest me because of that, I have no points to back myself up. I lose.

Telling people that I could cook delicious cuisines is really something out of my mind. I could say “Come over to my house, I‘ll make you bake macaroni and bread pudding” but I will never say “Come over to my house, you should taste my wonderful bake macaroni and bread pudding”. I dare not.

Minus preparing meals for Nada which include her breakfast, lunch and dinner that I do religiously due to my subconscious mind keep reminding me that I have to feed her with healthy home cook food, I have to admit that I hardly cook for Harris and myself.
We eat out almost E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y.

Harris has never complaint neither has he ever forced me to cook thus far. How can I be thankful enough to him?

The other day, we dined at Delifrance in Ampang Point. I had Shepherd’s Pie and I kinda wished if I could do it myself that I should try, but I figured I am incapable of that.
Then, things sometimes happens coincidentally when later my friend TC posted her delicious looking home made Shepherd’s Pie pix on FB.

I again, wish if I could bake a Shepherd’s Pie special for my love one – Harris.

Do ya'll think I should give it a try? What if my Shepherd's Pie turn out to be Burnt Pizza?
p/s : I received quite numbers of praises of this Harris & me photo. Some say, pix is nice…. Some say, the outfit is nice. For information, my mami made that superb piece for me. Isn't she a brilliant?

Piala Malaysia 09 - my experience : As expected

He and his renown statement : “Don’t take the risk, this is not covered in our life insuance.

He he he.

Sesampai di stesen tren, kedengaran kuat bunyi dentingan besi waja berlaga dengan lantai konkrit. Harris mengatakan kepada saya : “Ha! Kan abang dah cakap!!! It’s about to get started”.

It is a shameful thing, I would say.

Di Kelantan, usah bercerita pasal “theme park” walau sesederhana Lost World of Tambun Water Park (Ipoh), padang permainan kanak-kanak yang decent pun sukar ditemui.

Terlalu banyak kalau hendak disenaraikan.
